International Women’s Day 2023 campaign theme: #EmbraceEquity

For International Women’s Day and beyond, let’s all fully #EmbraceEquity.

Equity isn’t just a nice-to-have, it’s a must-have. A focus on gender equity needs to be part of every society’s DNA. And it’s critical to understand the difference between equity and equality.

The aim of the IWD 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign theme is to get the world talking about Why equal opportunities aren’t enough. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action. Read more about this here.

All IWD activity is valid, that’s what makes IWD inclusive.

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Furthermore, the day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Notably, significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements or rally for women’s equality.

Marked annually on March 8th, IWD is one of the most important days of the year to:

  • Celebrate women’s achievements
  • Educate and raise awareness for women’s equality
  • Call for positive change advancing women
  • Lobby for accelerated gender parity
  • Fundraise for female-focused charities

Everyone, everywhere can play a part in helping forge gender equality. Consequently, from a wide range of IWD campaigns, events, rallies, lobbying, and performances – to festivals, parties, fun runs, and celebrations – all IWD activity is valid. Hence, that’s what makes IWD inclusive.
